How to Delete Fake Plumbing and HVAC Google Reviews

For Plumbing and HVAC business owners, having a google page is a must. Unfortunately, often, Google pages become placeholders for fake Google reviews written with the sole intention of harming a brand or promoting negative, derogatory, and racist views. Thus, Plumbing and HVAC business owners must make all efforts to get fake reviews immediately deleted. Google has a supremely efficient team in place to assist Plumbing and HVAC businesses in dealing with the anarchy of fake reviews. Google recognizes eight types of negative reviews and will delete them immediately when contacted. (if you don’t have a GMB account or Apple Maps, click here)

Should Fake Google Reviews Worry You?

Unfortunately, yes. The emergence of smartphones has changed the way consumers make buying decisions. Before making a purchase, consumers invariably scour the internet for reviews and product descriptions. Negative reviews, even if fake, can drastically impact sales. Google is the most used and trusted search engine, and thus, a significant section of buyers involuntarily turn to Google business reviews for help.

Fake google reviews should worry you because a 2017-study revealed that only four negative reviews are enough to stop 70% of prospective customers from buying a product. With 2 billion users, Google is more influential than anything else on the internet currently.

Is It Possible to Delete Fake Google Reviews?

Businesses cannot get rid of fake reviews on their own. The only way to get fake Google reviews deleted is to reach out to the Google Business Plan team. Google judges all reviews for authenticity and intent and decides to remove them based on three criteria:

1. Is the review fake, spam or a competitor’s ad
2. Is the review irrelevant to the business
3. Is the review violent in nature

Given the number of Plumbing and HVAC businesses and reviews on Google, it is not always easy to get fake reviews deleted. However, it is also not impossible to get the attention of the Google Business Plan team. In general, in comparison to violent and irrelevant reviews, it is easier to get spam or fake reviews deleted.

How to Get Fake Reviews Deleted?

Report Policy Violation

Here’s an important tip: do not discard all negative reviews as fake reviews. Instead, look into the issue, and if it’s a genuine concern, try to solve it. However, if you have cross-verified everything and are confident that the review you are dealing with is fake, report policy violation. Plumbing and HVAC business owners can flag all reviews they find fraudulent, inappropriate, or illegitimate. All one has to do to flag a review is to click on the flag icon on the review. Once a review has been flagged, Plumbing and HVAC business owners must provide their email ID and select the type of violation they are reporting. As soon as the ‘submit’ button is clicked on, the Google team will get a notification.

Gather Proof and Reach out to Google

Before you reach out to Google with your request to delete specific reviews, make sure you have substantial proof to verify your claims. You can use your CRM data or sales records to corroborate fake reviews.

Google has a specialized team called Google My Business Team that deals with issues related to reviews. To get in touch with Google My Business Team, go to the reviews section and select the channel on which you want Google to reach out to you. We suggest giving your phone number as phones facilitate direct communication, leaving no space for any confusion. The Google team will reach back to you once they have verified everything at their end.

What If Google Decides Against Deleting the Reported Reviews?

The ultimate authority to decide whether a review is fake or not lies with Google. If Google chooses against deleting a false or negative review, don’t feel disappointed. You may not have been able to get a review deleted, but you can undermine its effect by layering it with positive and honest reviews. Reach out to your old and loyal customers and request them to leave a positive review. This exercise will surely help you rebuild your brand.

However, remember never to agree to fake positive reviews as they are illegal and can even attract the wrath of Google and the government. Similarly, do not get favorable reviews through dishonest ways, such as offering discounts for positive reviews. These tactics may work temporarily but will surely leave a negative impact on your brand image in the long run.

The Final Word

Since negative reviews garner negative attention and hamper sales, they must be dealt with urgency. It is possible to get those fake reviews deleted that fall within the bracket of violation set by Google. However, the decision to remove any review lies solely with Google. Thus, if you are reaching out to Google, combine your formal complaint with concrete proof to urge Google to take action. It is undoubtedly true that getting fake reviews deleted is tough, but it is not impossible.

How To Get Your Plumbing and HVAC Business On Google Maps

There are tons of ways to improve and monitor Google Maps’ performance, especially if your business is in the Plumbing and HVAC industry. The first thing to do is set up a basic profile (you will populate it with the more complex stuff later).

Google My Business is critical for local SEO, particularly in the Plumbing and Heating & Air industry. As such, you need to keep all the listing data up to date and accurate. According to research, about half of clients will visit a business or store on the day on which they perform a search such as “Plumbing OR HVAC Company near me.” But according to the same research, 80 percent of potential clients will not trust a business that has inconsistent information on their online listing. As such, it is critical to ensure that your Name, Address, and Phone number (NAP), are consistent on all your online properties and listings.

Follow the following steps to list your business on Google

1. Sign in to your Google Account or set up a new one if you don’t have one

2. Navigate to google.com/business and click on the “Manage Now” Button

3. Enter the Business Name

If your business name is similar or the same as that of another business in the targeted region, the autocomplete function will show those businesses. Do not panic as this is merely to avoid double registration of a business where you may have already registered and forgotten about it. The autocomplete also makes it easy to add a new Google My Business profile to a previously registered business if you are adding in a newly opened location.

4. Specify Service Areas (Only applies to Service Area Businesses).

Before you can select the business category, you have to specify the locations you intend to serve. This will ensure that Google lists your business for Plumbing and Heating & Air searches in those locations, even if you do not have a physical address. You can enter the ZIP codes of the areas, the cities, and regions that your business will be serving.

Note that Google is currently doing away with “Distance around your business location.” As such, you should not fill this option but just specify your ZIP codes, cities, and regions.

5. Enter Business Location Address

This only applies if this is the location where you provide face to face services to your clients.
Check the box at the bottom of the form if you run a Service Area Business (SAB) that delivers goods and services to clients. As a SAB, you have two options:

1). If you intend to serve clients from the business address, enter your address in the form, check the box, and then proceed by clicking on the button labeled “Next.”

2). If you do not intend to serve clients from the business address, leave the address field blank, check the box, and then proceed by checking the box underneath, that will be titled “Hide my address (it’s not a store)’.

If your business delivers services and goods directly to clients, read on for how to specify a Service Area below.

6. Select the Business Category

It is critical to fill in this field, given that it will appear in your GMB profile and will also influence the type of Plumbing and Heating & Air searches that you will appear on the search engines for. You can also do some testing with it when you are updating your GMB listing.

Though it can always be adjusted (you will be asked to re-verify), it is always recommended to research competitors in the Plumbing and HVAC industry and look through the full list of categories to find the most appropriate category that fits the Plumbing and HVAC business.

Note that some of GMB features apply only to specific categories. For instance, hotel listings typically show ratings and class and list the amenities on offer. Plumbing and HVAC businesses may add reservations, URLs, and booking buttons to listings.

These are but a few examples of the developments in Google Maps that you need to keep up to date with.

7. Add your Website URL and Contact Phone Number

While not mandatory, we strongly advise that you include them as they make it possible to take advantage of advanced functionality in GMB, such as call tracking. Also, note that you will have to change all other business listings if you ever update these on your GMB listing.

If you have not yet set up a website, you will still have the option of creating a new website using the data you already entered into the listing. However, we always recommend that you have a unique website if you are running a local business.

8. Complete the GMB Verification

You will still have to prove that your business is located at the address you entered, especially if you registered a new Google My Business profile. The options available for verification include:

1). Postcard

One of the most popular verification methods. Google will send a postcard to the address you provided, which should arrive in your letterbox in about five days. The postcard will be a code that you will enter into your Google My Business Account to verify your address. If you do not receive the postcard, you can always request another by scrolling to the top of your account in GMB, and clicking on the banner titled “Request another code.”

2). Phone verification (Rare)

You can also verify your business through the phone. However, this option is not available to all businesses. Eligible businesses will typically have a ‘Verify by phone’ option, which you should see at the beginning of the verification process if you qualify. It is typically quicker as all you need to do is choose verification by phone, get the automated message with the code, and then enter it into your GMB account.

3). Email verification (Rare)

Just like phone verification, you should see the “Verify by email” option if you are eligible. If you choose this method, you should get a verification code in the email that you associated with the GMB listing and enter it into the GMB account. Ensure that you have access to the email you provided on the listing before you select this verification method.

While the two apps are the same in terms of cost and function, they have notable differences that might affect the mapping service you select.

Apple Maps are popular navigation apps used by many people across the world. The number of users is growing almost every day. The app is gaining some traction as an effective alternative to Google maps.

Apple Maps collects its data from somewhere else.
